Why BridgePlay exists
Being away from your child is hard. Sometimes the distance feels even greater when you finally get to call.
They’re busy playing, watching something, or caught up in their own little world. Calls get short. Sometimes they don’t happen at all. You want to connect, but you’re not sure how to reach them.
Years ago, when my daughter lived in another state, Candy Land became our way of connecting over video calls. It gave us something to do together. Instead of trying to pull her away from being a child, I could meet her at her level and share a little of her world.
Years later, I saw that same frustration in our son while he was away in training, trying to connect with his own child. I knew how disheartening it could be. The very life parents are working so hard to provide for can become the life they feel they’re missing.
That’s where BridgePlay began: building communication through play, in a language a child understands. Something they can join in, enjoy, and feel comfortable opening up through. A little game can give you something to laugh about, something to share, and a reason to stay a little longer.
When my grandson sent his dad a fist bump through this game and lit up when he got one back, it captured what this is all about:
“My dad fist bumped me!”
Small moments can mean so much.
BridgePlay is simple: building relationships through play at a child’s level. By stepping into their world, we stay connected and give them a way to open up, share, and enjoy time together.
